Give yourself permission to be human

Give yourself permission to be human

” I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions, I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them”- Oscar Wilde

Everything we do in life, we do it to seek pleasure or to avoid pain. Anthony Robbins said that and he is right. We are all constantly seeking to improve how we feel and trying to avoid or reduce pain in our lives. The reality is that pain, struggle, and challenges are part of life. Everyone goes through pain and injustice in life, whether emotional, physical or financial pain, life is a series of ups and downs and it is not reasonable to be feeling good and happy all the time and that is OK.

HAPPINESS DOES NOT MEAN BEING HAPPY ALL THE TIME.

Pain is inevitable in life and there are many external and internal barriers to the good life that cannot be easily overcome or even controlled. The difference in people lives is not what they face is what they do with what they face.  I believe that Happiness is not a goal in itself, but rather it is the by-product of a life well lived.

A well lived life, what does it mean??

Regardless of what a well lived life means to you, I believe that one of the most crucial elements to live well is to have emotional mastery.

“I don’t want to be at the mercy of my emotions, I want to use them, to enjoy them and to dominate them”. Oscar Wilde quoted.

Using and enjoying your emotions mean to give yourself the permission to be human and experience the full extent of human emotions. Feel all your feelings, because our emotions are not selective. Rather, embrace your positive and negative emotions, learn to process them then make sure you express them positively.

When we accept emotions like fear, sadness, or anxiety as natural it is easier to redirect them.  Rejecting and suppressing our emotions, whether they are positive or negative, lead to frustration and unhappiness.

The worse thing that could happen to anyone is not to take control over their emotions, choices and decisions, because human emotion is the only force that controls our life.

So please stop trying to be happy all the time, bending your emotions to meet others and society’s expectations is not a sign of strength. Just allow yourself to truly feel, it just makes you more human, more you, and believe that vulnerability is Power.

Cheers to emotions!
