Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first.

Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first.

“Don’t forget to fall in love with yourself first.” Carrie Bradshaw said that and she was right.

On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, I thought to remind you that falling in love with yourself is the best way to find true love.

Loving yourself is not selfish, actually it is just the opposite, loving yourself is an expression of respect, appreciation and gratitude for the amazing creative human being you are. This is the same form of natural love that you feel for your loved ones, except in this case, the recipient is you. Self-love exists when you are aware and meeting your needs, acknowledging your value, your uniqueness and accepting yourself unconditionally.

Did you know that self-love is a required condition for transforming low self-esteem, boosting self-confidence and is a must to reach your happiness potential?

Self-love is having a deeply affectionate relationship with yourself because when you have self-love you are able to show yourself the affection you deserve and do not wait for others to give it to you. Why is that it is so difficult for most of us to express self-love, is it cultural, is it social, or maybe a mix of many factors? …

Here are 4 ways to begin a self-love journey that will forever change the way you see yourself:

  • Make a list of what you honor and appreciate about yourself.  Ask yourself what do I appreciate about who I am? What are my strengths? How would people who love me describe me? Keep your list handy and when you are feeling down read your list aloud then notice your attitude change.
  • Start writing in a journal, and keep writing in it, note down your thoughts, tell the truth, write naturally, this is one of the best ways to know and connect with yourself at a deeper level.
  • Compliment yourself daily. Find ways and situations to acknowledge yourself on things done, on how you look, or on just being alive.. keep your spirit up by saying a positive words and thinking positive thoughts about yourself simply because it is good for you and it will make you happier!
  • Make some time for yourself to practice a hobby, read, meditate or exercise. And most importantly get sunlight and fresh air, take some time to appreciate those happy moments in your life and think about your goals and your needs.

The best relationship you can cultivate is the relationship with yourself, find the confidence and the willingness inside you to love all of you, you have something to be proud of that no one else in the world have and it is YOU.

It’s time to find that place in your heart where self-love already exists and bring it to everything you do. You are so loved, so worthy and so deserving of anything you ask for. Look in the mirror and smile…you are a gift to this world.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
